Taylor Sweeps the Weekend with Badger

Sun Prairie, WI (August 20th, 2023) - Sweeping a weekend was something that hadn’t been done yet this season. It took 5 tries for it to finally be done, as Adam Taylor swept the weekend and picked up his seventh feature win of the 2023 season with the Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midget Series.

With Sun Prairie’s CornFest in full swing, teams from all around traveled, with 36 cars filling the pits on the night. The points gap closed after Adam Taylor’s win the previous night at Sycamore, with Taylor only 10 points behind championship leader Todd Kluever.

The FiveOne Motorsports QuickTime Award went to Todd Kluever, with a blistering 15.055. Second was Brandon Waelti with a 15.122 with Derek Doerr at a 15.287 for third. Fourth went to Kyle Stark and fifth went to Taylor.

Daniel Robinson, after over coming a mechanical issue in qualifying, went from last to first to win the Madison Extinguisher Non-Qualifier race, with Kurt Mayhew and Trey Weishoff second and third. AutoMeter Heat 1 was won by Doerr as Jordan Nelson and Andy Baugh finished out the top three. Simpson Race Products and VMS Rod Ends Heat 2 saw Waelti pick up the win with Taylor second and RJ Corson third. Cody Weisensel picked up Behling Heat 3 with Stark and Daltyn England rounding out the podium.

High Performance Lubricants B-Main saw Aaron Muhle and Harrison Kleven starting on the front row. Muhle picked up the win with Robinson, Aaron Schuck, Miles Doherty, Kevin Douglas, Jace Sparks, and Dave Collins Jr all capturing a position for the night's A-Main.

The Advanced Fastening Supply A-Main lined up with Mike Stroik and Baugh on the front row. After an aborted start and a yellow for a spun Aaron Muhle, the green flag finally flew and Stroik jumped to the lead. The battle would be for third, Jack Routson and Zach Boden swapped the spot for numerous laps before a wicked fast Taylor swooped by the both of them and into the third spot. Taylor then set his eyes on Stroik and Baugh, as he closed the gap to the top two, and on lap nine, made the move for the race lead. Battles all around the track became interrupted when Corson slowed in turns one and two bringing out the caution. Taylor had the best restart, being able to pull away from Stroik in second. Heartbreak struck for Stroik on lap seventeen, as he pulled off the track in turn four, ending his night early. That promoted Routson and Baugh into second and third, which was fought over for the remaining laps. The seventeenth starting #57A of Robinson momentarily broke into the top three before falling back into eighth. Taylor never looked back, picking up his seventh feature win of the season and sweeping the weekend.

The Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midgets make the trip to Wilmot Raceway on Saturday, August 26th for their last show in August.
