Sun Prairie, Wis., July 23--Brad Kuhn took advantage of lap traffic to score his eighth Badger Midget Series feature victory of the season, winning the 25-lap feature Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway.
New Zealand's Jimi Quin jumped into the lead at the start. On the third lap Scott Hatton moved into second place closing up on the back of Quin's car, while Kuhn made a three-wide pass for third place. Hatton moved inside of Quin entering turn one on the sixth lap taking the lead. Kuhn passed Quin for second place three laps later and Hatton held a near two second advantage as he began lapping the tail of the field on lap ten.
Hatton continued setting a blistering pace lapping cars. On the 17th lap Hatton was trapped behind a lapped car allowing Kuhn to close to his rear bumper. One lap later Kuhn took the lead entering turn one, only to be passed by Hatton for the lead before reaching the start/finish line. Kuhn then made another charge securing the lead on lap 19.
Nick Lundgreen stalled on the lap 20 bringing out the caution. On the restart with many lapped cars between various leader positions a multi-car accident occurred, when a slower car spun collecting fourth place Danny Stratton.
On the restart Kuhn held the lead but slipped on the high groove giving Hatton the lead down the backstretch. Kuhn regained the top position driving under Hatton entering turn three. On the final lap Adam Clarke passed Hatton for second place and trailed Kuhn driving the Kuhn Motorsports Stealth/Mopar by two car lengths at the finish. Hatton finished third followed by Quin and Brandon Waelti. Kuhn now holds a 149 point lead over Hatton heading into the July 30 event at Angell Park Speedway.
