Wilmot,Wis., June 17 - Brad Kuhn took advantage of a late race restart to win the 30-lap co-sanctioned
Badger/Powri Midget Series feature Saturday Night at Wilmot Speedway.
Doug Schenck jumped into the lead at the start of the feature followed by Ric Forbes. Kuhn who earlier in the night set a new track record in qualifying passed five cars in the first five laps moving into the top five. Schenck and Forbes waged a torrid battle for the lead on the multi-groove track. Forbes pulled even at the line with Schenck on the tenth lap and took the lead exiting turn two.
Forbes stretched his lead over Schenck and Kuhn, before he began lapping the tail of the field at the midway point.
With ten laps remaining Forbes held a near three second advantage, with Kuhn finally securing the
second position from Schenck on the 22nd lap after the pair battled the previous ten laps.
One lap later Kenny Adams made contact with another car on the backstretch causing him to flip out of the track, landing in the pit area. Adams escaped injury. On the lap 23 restart Kuhn quickly moved in behind Forbes with the pair running wheel to wheel for the lead over the next two circuits. Kuhn moved under Forbes entering turn three to take the event lead on the 26th lap.
Once in front Kuhn went unchallenged for the final three laps finishing 1.29 seconds ahead of the tightly bunched field led by Scott Hatton, Forbes, Schenck and Davey Ray.
